Birch Hill Farm and Cross Winds Double Derby

Marengo, IL - September 1, 2012- Cross Winds Farm in Marengo, Il, hosted two back to back Northern Illinois Hunter Jumper Shows featuring a 2'6" Hunter Derby each week. Week one was the Birch Hill Horse Show which hosted the $1,000 Birch Hill Hunter Derby. Riders gave their best attempt at the beautifully designed course which included some very unique jumps including a bridge, outhouses, birdhouses and much more. Spectators enjoyed a lovely exhibitor's party while watching the rounds. The top twelve horses came back for the handy round with Molly McAdow and Weight in Gold as the winner after the two roumds. Robert Nathan and Mona Me, owned by Norine Manzella were second.
Week two was the $1,500 Cross Winds Farm Hunter Derby with a new derby
course and a new challenge for the the weekend. Riders again went two rounds this time with junior rider Clair Knobel on West Point, owned by Robin Buckley taking the top honors. Horses that participated in the two derbies were eligible for an additional award, The ChicagoEquestrian.com High Point Derby Trophy. The beautiful custom glass etched trophy went to Mona Me ridden by Robert Nathan and owned by Norine Manzella, for scoring the most points between the two derbies
