The Evergreen Invitational Grand Prix Returns for Top Notch Charity Fundraising
The event raised a record $1.4 million for charity in 2014, more than any other equestrian event in the Midwest.
Bristol, WI – August 17, 2016 - September 10, 2016 marks the sixth Evergreen Invitational Grand Prix, presented by the Wood-Prince Family, which serves as one of the premier fundraising events for Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Founded by M.K. Pritzker and hosted in partnership with The Woman’s Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the Evergreen Invitational has raised over $5 million to date for historically underfunded programs and research for women’s health services throughout the Chicago area. The event raised a record $1.4 million for charity in 2014, more than any other equestrian event in the Midwest.

The top fundraising competition features the $75,000 Evergreen Invitational Grand Prix at 1:00 pm and the $25,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior/Amateur Owner Classic sponsored by the Kovas Family, at 10:30 am.

Course designer Ken Krome, Westminster, Maryland, will set the track for the coveted competition. Krome is an FEI “I” rated course designer and a USEF “R” rated judge. He has course designed across the country including such notable places as the Winter Equestrian Festival, The Washington International Horse show and Upperville. In 2010, Krome was the recipient of the World Championship Hunter Rider Hunter Course Designer’s Trophy, awarded by the World Championship Hunter Rider Program to a person who exemplifies dedication and lifetime commitment to hunter course designing.

The prestigious Grand Prix has attracted some of our country’s Olympic riders such as Beezie Madden, Charlie Jayne, 2008 winner Margie Engle and the 2010 winner Kent Farrington and Up Chiqui. Other top area riders include 2014 winner Kaitlin Campbell and Rocky W, 2012 winner Laura Linback and Whitaker MVNZ and 2008 winner Maggie Jayne and J.F. (tie).
The gorgeous event is one of the most sought after social tickets in the Chicago area.
All the riders rave about the hospitality of the Evergreen Invitational. There is a complimentary rider’s tent that provides breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the day. On Friday night, exhibitors are treated to an appreciation party with great food and cocktails. Stabling is great and the stalls are all set and ready when the horses arrive.

VIP ticket holders are treated to the Promenade of Shops featuring high-end clothiers, gourmet food purveyors and other upscale merchants, valet parking and an exquisite gourmet meal with cocktails. It is the most sought after social ticket in the Chicago area.

Since its inception, funds raised by the Evergreen Invitational have been granted to support 63 projects and programs bringing new, innovative healthcare ideas to Northwestern Memorial Healthcare.
